Woking Snooker Centre hosted the latest round of the Gold, Silver and Bronze Tours for Under 21s.
Oliver Sykes posted a break of 139, the highest ever break in the 14-year history of the Cuestars Under-21 Gold Tour on his way to winning the event.
Donnie Gola claimed his first Silver Tour winner’s trophy after defeating first-time finalist Daniel Walter 2-0.
Channel Islander Archie Greier edged Freddie Morrison 2-1 on a re-spotted black to take his second Bronze Tour winner’s trophy back to Jersey.
And home-club player Rory Champion, competing in his first Cuestars event, beat Isaac Wong in the Plate final.

A lot more events will have taken place of course and will appear in news in due course.

Many amateur players who are looking to join the world Snooker Tour in the future will have an eye on the news. Apparently there is to be, or maybe there was, a meeting of the players and topics could include a change to a tiered draw system and the ranking system.

It would make more sense to allow those who have just qualified for the tour to be pitched against each other with the winners going forward to meet more established players.

A change to the ranking system would also be needed to prevent excessive protection of the top players.
