Should England be a member of the IBSF?

Having seen this on Facebook, proudly posted by a Welsh player who has received an invite to the event, it got me to thinking about why English players don’t get invited.

Is there any good reason as to why the English Partnership for Snooker and Billiards (EPSB), who are the National Governing Body for English Amateur Snooker, does not join the International Billiards and Snooker Federation (IBSF)?

Yes, we know that the IBSF events don’t carry the incentive of a place on the World Snooker Tour (WST) for the winner(s), but surely that would not be good enough reason to say players shouldn’t be given the opportunity to play in these events.

Not all other international events have WST places on offer.

I’m not aware of any ballot taken of English players to see whether they would like England to be a ‘Member Country’.

Has the board of EPSB made a unilateral decision without consulting the many EPSB members who have no ambition to play on the WST?

Comments are welcome.
