The first half of the second round of the UK Championship at the Barbican Theatre in York took place yesterday
The afternoon matches featured Mark Williams against Pang Junxu and Neil Robertson playing Wu Yize.
I got both those matches wrong!
Neil Robertson was a comfortable 6-1 winner while Pang Junxu continued his run of form with a 6-4 win.
Robertson suggested that the tables playing less generous favours the better players and the newcomers will find it catching them out. Pang made a nonsense of that claim! One thing is for certain. WST need to sort this mess out publicly.
The evening matches went more with expectations.
Judd Trump beat Si Jiahui 6-3 and Mark Selby beat an in-form Zhou Yuelong 6-2.

All really interesting matches!
Can Scott Donaldson continue his incredible run?
Can Zhang Anda stop the pre-tournament favourite in his tracks?
Can Elliot Slessor tame the Hawk?
Can Shaun Murphy make the last of the class of 92 disappear form this tournament?
Can I think of anything less corny?
