I’m going to make my predictions for the UK Championship matches today in York.

My favourite event of the season, starts today and just for a change, I thought I would make a few guesses at who I think will win.
There’s no science in this – just gut feelings. I don’t normally care who wins, to be honest. I just like to watch good snooker being played. I still won’t mind who wins but I might put on a small wager for the sake of interest – and so see if it does actually add any interest!
So here goes –
The first two matches today are –

Judd Trump is of course the defending champion and, as such, is the top seed and featured in the opening games.
It could well be a tough match for Judd as Stephen Maguire has been looking good in the qualifiers.
In the other match, Si Jiahui must be favourite as Ryan Day hasn’t been doing a lot this season and is currently well down the rankings on the one year list.
This evenings matches are –

John Higgins has been at the business end of a lot of tournaments this season (and many other seasons!) but Ben Woolaston seems to be looking a lot happier on the table these days.
Shaun Murphy had a bit of a roller coaster start to the season with some fantastic results in matches followed by disastrous performances in the next. Mainly due of course to his opponents playing lights-out snooker!
Predictions –
It’s foolish I reckon to try to predict the score – getting the winner is hard enough. So, in what looks like a bit of a cop-out, I’m going with the 4 seeds.
The odds on this as a 4 fold aren’t great but at Bet365 it’s boosted from 1.92/1 to 2.14/1

Maybe there’s better odds out there but I use Bet365 sometimes to watch matches on my phone when I’m out and about.
Gambling on snooker is never going to make me any money, that’s for sure.
