Day 2 of the UK Championship and the first seed to fall

There’s been 8 matches over the opening weekend of the UK Championship at The Barbican Theatre in York, and 7 matches have resulted in wins for the favourites.

This is how the results look courtesy of snooker.org

I didn’t see Pang Junxu beating Xiao Guodong to be honest and didn’t watch what looks like a pretty convincing win for Pang.

David Gilbert could well have given Mark Williams a better game if he hadn’t neglected practice recently, which he confessed to after the match.

Wu Yize nearly let the match slip from his grasp. After being 5-0 up he relaxed and let Michael Holt fight back to 5-4. But a controversial 10th frame got Wu over the line eventually.

Neil Robertson let me down for my bet on him to win the first session 4-0. It went in at 3-1. Julien Leclercq is making progress on the tour though and there doesn’t appear to be any reason why he can’t continue to do so.

No more betting for me at the moment as it really doesn’t make it any more interesting. Just a bit annoying when a bet goes down.

Predictions for today

Order of play is –

The seeds all look to have a good chance of progressing but I think Zhang Anda might well push Gary Wilson close and Xu Si won’t be a pushover for Ding.
