Now that the World Snooker Tour season is over, the next big event on the calendar is Q School.
Many amateur players will be missing the sunshine by locking themselves away on their practice tables in a bid to get on the WST and make their fortune.
The list of players on Snooker.org shows 12 players dropping off the WST and trying to get back on. That means just 159 amateurs have entered this time. At a cost of £960 and a lot of time off work, it’s hardly surprising. The list does include Dylan Emery who has already been awarded a WST place by virtue of his Q Tour ranking.
David Caulfield at Snooker HQ has been writing about the Q School intake of 2025
“Hopeful players go to Q School for World Snooker Tour promotion”
Q School Asia-Oceania is underway and we might well see another player returning from a ban in Thanawat “Thai-namite” Tirapongpaiboon.
Very interesting also to see Pankaj Advani in the field. Pankaj relinquished his WST place in 2014 to concentrate on billiards. [Wiki]
May 21st sees the start of the European Q School at the Mattioli Arena in Leicester.
The Irish News have reported on the progress of the Northern Ireland Amateur Snooker Championship
“First four quarter-finalists known in That Prize Guy Northern Ireland Amateur Snooker Championship”
The action continues this weekend when the remaining four quarter-finalists will be determined.
Steven Hallworth is looking forward to returning to the World Snooker Tour
“Hallworth: Pro-Tour Always Biggest Goal”
Steven Hallworth was talking to WST about his return to the pro-tour next season.
