Over the weekend we were spoilt for choice with snooker events. Ranging from grassroots to elite amateur to the World Snooker Tour there was something for everyone.

At grassroots level we had the Bob Mason Open at Woking Snooker Centre which was organised through snookerz.co.uk and a splendid job was done by everyone involved!

There were groups played on Saturday leading to a last 16 on Sunday and a full report will be published soon.

At the elite, top amateur, level for those looking to turn pro, there was the first event on the new-look WPBSA Q Tour which will incorporate the Global Q Tour events for which we are still waiting more details of the events to be staged.

The event was held at the North East Snooker Centre in North Shields and there were over 100 entries.

Starting with open qualification on Friday the field was reduced to 16 where they met the 48 players seeded through to the weekend.

Liam Davies beat Craig Steadman in the final to earn the prize money and the very valuable ranking points!

Then of course there was the venue stage of the European Masters, won by Barry Hawkins who beat Judd Trump in final. Hawkins had already beaten World Champion Luca Brecel earlier in the tournament and Mark Selby in the semi final.

Besides these events there were many more at club level of course and those that I get told about are advertised on the SnookerHub calendar.

If you’re running, or entering, an event please make sure I know so it can be put on the calendar.
