Pub games like darts are a great change of pace from snooker

Snooker is one of the most fun activities that you can take part in, especially when the shots are falling. And given its legacy as one of the top pub games, it’s no surprise that snooker is synonymous with getting together with your mates at the local. But there are plenty of other ways to have fun at the pub as well, for times when you or your mates may be looking for a change of pace.

Pub games

Just like snooker is a popular pub game, there are countless other pub games that can be enjoyed by those who want to take a break from their cues for a bit. These games range from more stationary competitions to feats that require great athleticism or coordination. But all of them are just the right mix of competitive and fun so that they’re perfect for a night out with friends.

Darts is the most popular of these options by far, to the point that it has become one of the truly beloved sports in the UK. While the pros manage to fill venues with fans looking to see them shoot for 180s, pub darts is every bit as exciting despite not having quite the same crowds. And with bragging rights on the line, it may feel every bit as intense for some groups of friends.

Then there are games that require a little bit of athleticism to go with their coordination like foosball. The miniature version of football requires players to both be able to use their coordination to strike the ball, as well as have the ability to continue moving up and down the table while using their arms non-stop to move the players on the diminutive pitch. The end result is exciting, albeit sometimes hilarious, competition among mates.

For more competitive groups of friends, arcade games are a great way to spend an evening

One of the things that makes snooker so appealing to players is the fact that it is a highly competitive game that can also be played for fun. Fortunately, video games share many of those same qualities, as players can take on their mates with a clear winner and loser to prove which in the group is best.

Perhaps the gold standard for pub arcade games is Golden Tee, which takes a sport like golf where many recreational players tip a few back and puts it in a location built for tipping a few back like a pub. And for those who really want to get the competitive juices flowing, there are even Golden Tee championships if your game is good enough on the virtual links.

Even amateur Golden Tee players can get in on competitions locally, the same way that amateur snooker players are able to take on events like Chandlers Ford. For those looking to switch things up for a night or two, this makes Golden Tee the perfect idea that doesn’t stray too far from what you already enjoy.

Slot games

In addition to pub games like darts and arcade machines, many pubs offer various slot games which allow their clientele the opportunity to relax, have fun among friends, and even get down to their favourite tunes. Slots machines, whilst already extremely popular in bars, have also consolidated their position online, for example with games such as Guns N’ Roses from SkyVegas showing just how creative these options can get.

In terms of a night out, finding a pub that offers slots as an option is great, as they typically signify that a pub is a little more sophisticated than a local that may not have the same amenities. This is especially true with establishments that have more modern and flashy titles that show that a place is pure class. No matter what you decide to do with your night out, having some friendly competition with your mates is always a good thing. And knowing that there is always snooker to come back to at some point is even better.
