The new WST season starts Monday 10 June

For the first ranking event of the 2024/25 season, the Championship League, there are no less than 24 amateurs currently listed to be taking part.

This number may well increase if any of the pros who are currently scheduled to play, decide not to take part.

The event gives lots of amateur players the opportunity to earn money and ranking points as well as getting valuable experience playing in pro conditions – albeit behind closed doors.

There are 32 groups of 4 players for Stage 1 with the winner of each group going through to Stage 2. Each day will see 2 groups of 4 contested.

Follow the event at snooker.org: https://www.snooker.org/res/index.asp?event=1941

Each player will play 3 matches of 4 frames and they are ranked by most points, most frames won and least frames lost, in that order. If that is still the same, then the result of the match between the players in question will determine the rankings.

Matchroom Multi Sport will be showing one table live and free on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/live/uC79cU2E9fs?si=TuZLWc9XQyoYIx8v

Table 2 can be watched in the UK on matchroom.live but will need a subscription: https://matchroom.live/subscribe

See this for other countries: https://championshipleaguesnooker.co.uk/watch/

You can also watch on many betting sites for free if you have an account.

You can read more about the event, including the draw and schedule on the WST website here: https://www.wst.tv/news/2024/june/05/betvictor-championship-league-draw/ and the Championship League Snooker website here: https://championshipleaguesnooker.co.uk/championship-league-snooker-ranking-event-2024-entries-confirmed/

My intention is to follow the amateurs in this and other WST events this season.

Of the two groups tomorrow, only Group 21 features an amateur.

Zack Richardson will face Neil Robertson in one of the first two matches at 12:00 UK time.

In the meantime, watch Zack make a 147 at The Castle in Brighton
