After 7 days of highly competitive snooker, today sees the quarter-finals, semi-finals and the final of the World Snooker Federation Open Championship 2022.

The Ding Junhui Snooker Academy in Sheffield has been the setting for 6 events since the 10 February with 3 of these carrying the Holy Grail of prizes – a ticket to the World Snooker Tour for the next 2 seasons.

We have already seen Nutcharut Wongharuthai of Thailand claim the World Women’s Championship and Anton Kazakov of Ukrain take the WSF Junior Championship. earning them both WST cards starting next season.

There were over 270 players entered into the WSF Open Championship which was played initially in a group format with 140 players going into the knockout phase.

The knockout matches have been short, best of 5, up to now and will be best of 7 up to the final which is best of 9. The short format has presumably been necessary due to the sheer number of entries.

The quarter final line-up is:

Sanderson Lam v Daniel Wells
Joshua Cooper v Lee Stephens
Ryan Davies v Michael White
James Cahill v Si Jiahui

The matches start at 9:00am with semi-final 1 scheduled for 12 noon, semi-final 2 at 3:00pm and the final at 7:30pm.

Live streaming features James Cahill v Si Jiahui this morning.
