It was the start of the 2022 World Snooker Championships yesterday and featured lots of amateurs.

(The times in the left hand column are when the matches finished and CEST so an hour in front of UK time.)
Liam Davies claimed a record!
Michael White continues with his quest to get back on the main tour. Surely that’s just a matter of time.
A great win for Northern Ireland’s latest superstar, Robbie McGuigan too.
Scotland’s Michael Collumb was at 4-4 with Xu Si when the match was pulled off. It resumed late in the evening and Xu Si took the next 2 frames to win 6-4.
Ben Mertens took frames 9 and 10 to force the decider with Louis Heathcote but couldn’t get over the line.
Anton Kazakov and Nutcharut Wongharuthai, who both lost their matches, were playing here as amateurs but have already secured their places on the main tour for the next 2 seasons.
