The Mersey Masters is an annual event organised by the Merseyside and District Billiards and Snooker Association.

The following report was posted on the MDBSA Facebook page

Tremendous display all day beating Josh Mulholland 4-1 in quarters before then getting the better of Pat Horne by the same scoreline in the semi final. Pat having beaten ?? in their quarter final match.

In the final he met a particularly strong Wayne Brown, who had come through two gruelling matches on the day. 4-3 v Jamie Jones (superb match that was) and then 4-3 in a titanic battle with 2 times winner Brian Robertson who once again put up a valiant effort. Brian beat ?? in the other quarter final.

Onto the final, and Anthony fired off the first 4 frames with breaks of 76, 57, 67 & 58. Back came Wayne with a couple of frames and just as things started to look really interesting with Wayne building momentum, Ant fires in another incredible pot, freeing up the pink, and takes a lovely 49 to seal match and title for 2022 by 5 frames to 2.

A huge thank you to everyone once again this year. Some of the many matches we’ve witnessed have been of the highest quality. Considering we aren’t that far from having come out of lockdown it’s pretty special to see. This region let’s be honest is blessed.

See you all very soon.

A very tired TD
