The talents of the Cuestars Under-21 tour shone as they rolled into Woking Snooker Centre in Surrey at the weekend.
For the first time since 2016, John Hunter and Tim Dunkley set foot in the rejuvenated club which has seen a plethora of changes since that time. And Hunter and Dunkley were impressed.
Hunter, who plays in a World Seniors qualifier in a couple of weeks time, said it was good to have the club, which has been going since 1988, back on the Cuestars calendar.
He said:
“Some of the clubs we’ve played in only have around 8 – 9 tables, so the players got a treat coming here. I think it was about 2016 since we last came here.“
Woking has 20 tables and plenty of space.
The Cuestars Under-21 Gold final was recorded and streamed on Facebook on Woking’s No 1 match table where members who turned up to watch, saw talented Mickey Joyce claim his fourth Under-21 Gold title defeating Oliver Sykes 3 – 2 in a thrilling deciding frame.
Sykes was a recent player selected to play in the English Open earlier on in the year by the English Partnership of Snooker and Billiards.
The Cuestars event was co-sponsored by the snooker website SnookerZone.co.uk and Hoff Aviation.
Woking plan to host a Cuestars Seniors event in 2022 in the Spring.
