Darren Morgan and Rhydian Richards earned their places in the event. Rhydian by winning the Welsh Amateur Championship, beating Darren Morgan in the final – Darren by winning the Robert Harrhy Memorial, beating Jackson Page in the final.
The amateurs however, had to face each other in a preliminary round. The match went to the deciding frame and Rhydian Richards came out on top to book a date with David Grace in the first round proper tomorrow afternoon.
