Welsh teenage snooker sensation, Jackson Page, has been given a place on World Snooker’s Welsh Open which starts today.

Page had been thought to have been missing out on this event after losing a wildcard spot to Darren Morgan in the final of the Robert Harrhy Memorial tournament in Cwmbran in January.

However, Joe Swail has had to pull out of the tournament and Page now replaces him as a Q School top up.

The teenager is fresh back from a trip to Bulgaria where he successfully defended his EBSA European Under 18 title.Last year’s Welsh Open, where he did start as a wild card, saw Jackson face Judd Trump in front of the TV cameras for a place in the last 16. His run ended there but in a BBC interview he said

“It was great – it was mad really. Everyone was messaging me saying ‘well done’ and I was on the news a lot!”

Page is hoping for another good run and faces Sean O’Sullivan in the first round. The match hasn’t earned a TV spot but the event can be watched on BBC Wales, Eurosport and Quest.
