Two days worth of action and there was lots of it!

Jimmy Robertson set a new record for most points scored by one player in a single frame: 178. Previous record was 167 by Dominic Dale at the Crucible in 1999. Lee Walker gave away 44 penalty points before Robertson finished the match off with a 133 break to set the record.

Lei Peifan, who knocked out Zhao Xintong back in September, beat Robbie Williams who was seeded 50 places higher! But the next day he lost to Ben Woollaston in round 2.

Ronnie O’Sullivan beat amateur Michael Georgiou 4-0 in less than 40 minutes. Then the day after, Judd Trump beat Craig Steadman 4-0 in just over 40 minutes. Trump was only marginal slower to finish the match as he included 2 century breaks!

O’Sullivan was taken to a decider yesterday with Liang Wenbo but finished the match off with a run of 90.

Top seed and defending champion, Mark Selby, continues steadily with wins over Oliver Lines and Xiao Guodong.

Reigning Masters champion, Yan Bingtao, provided the shock of the day by losing to Hammad Miah, seeded 91. Miah will now play David Gilbert this afternoon.

Another shock was Kyren Wilson losing to Fergal O’Brien. O’Brien finishing off with a break of 140!

Today

No early morning matches today, but Round 2 will be completed this afternoon and Round 3 played in its entirety this evening.

David Lilley gets another chance to beat Judd Trump this afternoon. They played each other in the Champion of Champions and the UK Championship! Could it be third time lucky for the amateur? Betway have him priced at priced at 12/1 to do that.

Michael Holt has had to withdraw after testing positive for Covid – giving Lilley the walkover to meet Trump.

Fergal O’Brien is priced at 11/4 to beat Luca Brecel. Brecel is priced at 9/1 for the title but half the odds for an each way bet is tempting.
