The ENCSC is the official governing body for the English National County Snooker Championships.
The competition is designed to give amateur players across the country the platform to compete against other counties, with a Gold Championship for the elite amateurs, and a Silver Championship designed for the players who are just below the Gold standard.
The ENCSC currently has approximately a quarter of the English counties involved and are looking to increase its quota each year.
For the 2019/20 Season, both the Gold and Silver Championships has two groups of teams who play each other twice at a nominated neutral venue, once in the autumn and the second round of fixtures played in February. Each match consists of eight players per team, playing 64 Frames with each player playing one frame against each of the opposing team, with the first team to reach 33 frames as the winning team. Each squad can have a maximum of 24 players while a substitute can be made at any time during a match.
The top two teams from each group will then qualify for the semi finals. The winners of both Gold and Silver Championships are then invited to compete for the Raeburn International Trophy, a competition designed for the Scottish and English County Champions to compete annually. We hope to grow this so that it eventually becomes a full Home Internationals involving Wales and Ireland.
The Executive Committee includes Tony Cook (Merseyside) as it’s Chairman, who has fantastic support from Chris Stephenson (Somerset), Danny Cooper (Derbyshire) and a very pro-active committee from counties across England.
In such a short space of time, the ENCSC has become a very successful organisation with a fantastic ethos for the amateur game, and are pleased to be now partners of the new EPSB Partnership with the WPBSA who will be providing us with referees and Tournament Directors for the Semi Finals and Finals.
