The Paul Hunter Classic gets underway today (22 August) and is billed by some as THE pro-am of the season
The Stadthalle in Furth, Germany, is the setting for this popular amongst the amateurs but no so popular amongst the pros event. Could it be anything to do with the top prize only being £20,000? Just a bit more evidence for me that all events should carry equal ranking points. Then at least the ones that do turn up are rewarded with decent points over the ones that are simply chasing the ££££.Some of the amateurs have to negotiate 2 qualifying rounds, where the losers get nothing, before the first round proper with again nothing for the loser. The winners of the first round only get £600 – if they beat a pro that is!
