This weekend, two qualifiers, Patrick Wallace and Rodney Goggins, will take on six of the sports ‘legends’ for the title and a pay-cheque of €7,500. The event was won last year by Steve Davis who was a last minute stand-in for Stephen Hendry.

The legends are – Ken Doherty; Joe Johnson; Dennis Taylor; Jimmy White; Willie Thorn and completing the line up is the current World Seniors Champion Aaron Canavan.

Ken Doherty will be starting the event as the favourite following on from his win in the first final, the UK Seniors Championship in Hull last October. Doherty is also doing quite well on the main tour – being invited to compete on the tour after missing out via the normal routes.

Jimmy White is also still playing on the main tour as another invitee, but is looking less likely to continue next season.

Two sessions on each day will be shown live on Freesports in the UK and Ireland while the final will also be shown live in Ireland on EirSport 1
