The draw for the Turkish Masters has been announced and Ronnie O’Sullivan is conspicuous by his absence.

It’s nice to see that Ronnie has stuck to his word and not entered the Turkish Masters.

After his victory in the world Grand Prix, O’Sullivan declared that he would not play in the event unless the promoters were to get their cheque book out!

The top four players in the world rankings; Mark Selby, Judd Trump, Neil Robertson and Kyren Wilson have their first round games held over to the main venue. This means they don’t have to suffer the so-called ‘qualifying round’ in England.

I applaud his decision and only wish that the other top players would follow his lead. It might make the WST, WPBSA and promoters look again at the structurer of the tour and how they can reward all the players for taking part and give the fans the sport they deserve.

The current situation appears to be very much biased towards the English players by ensuring that they don’t have to travel too far, get beat and come home with nothing!
