Round 2 is completed and Round 3 begins with a new high break mark.

Ross Muir kicked off Round 3 in fine style with a 4-0 win over Fergal Quinn which included a break of 140 – the new high break for the tournament.

Jenson Kendrick had a fine win over David Lilley, the recently crowned World Seniors Champion, Kendrick now goes on to play another relegated pro, Duane Jones.

Lilley was was the only casualty amongst the relegated pros yesterday.

Today sees the completion of Rounds 3 and 4 before Judgement Day Part II tomorrow.

The rumblings on social media continue with debates about the effectiveness of Q School and the state of the amateur game in England in particular.

There is still considerable confusion as to who is responsible for growing the game in England with many forgetting that this is supposed to be a global sport. They can of course be forgiven as there is so much of the WST played in England.

The English NGB should be a totally independent organisation without any board members being directly involved with the WPBSA or WST.

I realise that there needs to be a good club structure in order to provide facilities for those looking to take up the game, but there should then be a properly structured development programme for players to earn the opportunity to eventually turn professional. The current NGB doesn’t appear to address this at all. If there are plans, make them known!
