Welshman Jackson Page won the EBSA 2019 Under 21 Championship and with it a two-year professional tour card.
17-year-old Page was the pre-tournament favourite of many and only lost 2 frames throughout the event. He is the first player from Wales to win the European Under 21 Championship.
After winning the Under 18 title for the last two years, Page made the decision not to defend the title, but rather to concentrate on the Under 21 and the Men’s events which both carry the prize of a main tour card. Having achieved his goal, can he now relax and win the Men’s event as well?
In the 2016/17 Q School, Page just missed out on earning a tour card but, as the top-ranked on the order of merit other than those who did earn their card, he gained a lot of valuable experience on the main tour as a top-up. He again missed out in 2017/18 but more experience on the new Challenge Tour can only have helped.
The current snooker World Champion Mark Williams has taken Page under his wing and will no doubt be supporting him in his quest to make it as a professional. Watch out Twitter!
