World Snooker circuit now has three more new UK professionals

The European Billiards and Snooker Association (EBSA) Order of Merit play-offs took place recently at the English Institute of Sports alongside the World Snooker Championship qualifiers.

Eight players were there by virtue of ranking points won at the two qualifying events, the Paul Hunter Classic and the Gibraltar Open.

A full report of the play offs is here on the World Snooker site: https://www.wpbsa.com/clarke-and-oconnor-win-ebsa-play-offs/

On offer were two professional tour places so in effect there were two separate competitions within the play offs.

Jamie Cope was probably the favourite in the first section but he was beaten by George Pragnall who went on to lose to Jamie Clarke in the final.

In the second section Joe O’Connor only dropped one frame on his way to a comprehensive victory.

O’Connor and Clarke now go on to join Harvey Chandler in a minimum two year stint on the pro circuit making it 3 UK players who are joining the tour for the first timeQ School starts soon and by now most of the pros will know whether or not they will have to try to get back on the tour for next season via one of these 12 places on offer here.

So will they all enter Q School? Aditya Mehta has already said he’s not entering as he needs to get over a neck problem. Will there be anyone else not entering? How will the 128 be made up if a few don’t enter? Time will tell.
