I love to hear these stories from my students… thanks Ross.
‘Hi Lee, hope your well.
Had a presentation night tonight came out winner of an annual inter club singles and doubles competitions.
These trophies date back to 1935 which my grandfather won the doubles in the 70s.
It was a great feeling to be presented with the same trophy all these years later.
Thank you again wouldn’t have been able to do it without your coaching and putting those sessions into hours of practice.’
Background
It’s part of an annual winter games competition (they also do billiards, darts, pool, card games etc) that is held for members of the CIU club in Maidstone Brewer Street that has been running since the 1930s.
I first played in it when I was 19 but didn’t carry it on after. A league team mate is also a member of this club and asked me to be their snooker doubles partner I agreed to later find out they entered me into the singles and doubles snooker, singles and doubles pool and billiards.
I finished runner up in the pool singles, made the pool doubles semi final, knocked out in second round of billiards and then winner of snooker singles and doubles.
