The snooker season started last Tuesday and the Qzone teams recorded some great results.

Qzone started their defence of the league title with a home game against Qzone’s latest recruits, DH Qzone. DH got off to a flyer, winning the first game, but Qzone pulled up their socks and ran out 5-1 winners.

Inter Qzone laid down the challenge for the league with a resounding 6-0 win over Rock A. Inter’s Mike Nixon was the star performer with 2 breaks to clear the table bar the black!

Qzone Originals nipped up the road to St Margaret Mary’s and collected all the points with a 7-0 to start their quest to return to Division 1.

Billiards not quite done yet!

Last night (Monday 11 Dec) saw the final of the Alan Armstrong Trophy between Mike Griffiths (Inter Qzone) and Paul Cowing (The Rock).

The first hour belonged to Mike, as early on he was able to put together a magnificent 112 break with all 3 balls on the table right up to 95 on the board when he was forced to pot Paul’s ball to carry on the break past the 100 mark.

At half way the score was 268-117.

The second hour was a more balanced affair, with at one point mounting a comeback that saw him get within 75 of Mike.

But in the end, Mike scored consistently to keep Paul at bay.

2-hour final Result: Mike Griffiths 472 – Paul Cowing 347
