Snooker is back at Preston Guild Hall for the qualifying round of the Indian Open and there is plenty amateur interest.

The top performers from Q School that didn’t make it on to the tour, are invited to make up the 128 for the first round.

There are 12 amateurs taking part -Day 1

James Cahill is on ‘home turf’ and is paired against Alan McManus – James Cahill wins 4-3

Mitchell Mann is scheduled to be ‘on the telly’ (Eurosport) for his match against Liang Wenbo. – Mitchell Mann lost 4-0

Steven Hallworth plays Gary Wilson – Steven Hallworth lost 4-2

Leo Fernandez plays Yan Bingtao – again scheduled for Eurosport – Leo Fernandez lost 4-2

 

At the end of Day 1 only James Cahill has made it through to the main event in India

Back tomorrow for another 7 matches involving amateurs.

Dechawat Poomjaeng plays Fergal O’Brien – Dechawat Poomjaeng lost 4-2

Andy Hicks will play Neil Robertson but that’s held over to the main event in India.

Ben Hancorn plays Michael Georgio – Ben Hancorn lost 4-

Luke Simmonds has been given a walk over Xiao Guodong

Adam Duffy plays Thepchaiya Un-Nooh – Adam Duffy lost 4-2

Simon Bedford plays Luca Brecel – Simon Bedford lost 4-3

David Lilley plays Jimmy Robertson – David Lilley lost 4-3

Farakh Ajaib plays Anthony Hamilton – Farakh Ajaib lost 4-1
