From Stephen Llewelyn –
It’s that time of the year again when we start to look forward to our yearly Clatterbridge Charity Shield, last year we had a fabulous tournament with some big names and was won by Ian Brumby.
This year we are hopeful of putting together our very first version of the Mill Brow Clatterbridge Cancer Charity Shield Pro Am.
It will be played in a number of stages,
Entry fees will be £25 a man, £5 per player donated to Clatterbridge Cancer charity.
Entry’s open, first 32 players.
Closing date Sunday 3rd July.
First stage will be,
Sunday 14th August 2022, best of 5’s
hopeful of 32 players+
handicap system -14 to plus 14
Playing for our original Clatterbridge Charity Shield,
as well as the opportunity to progress to the Pro Am.
Sunday 28th August 2022.
16 players to qualify from Shield will be invited to play in a invitational Pro Am which we hope to include up to 16 players of which are professional, ex professional or Q School players.
Professional player from 2021/22 or current tour -14, Ex pro, or Minus handicap player will play off scratch and plus handicapper will play off +7, giving largest handicap range of 21.
If I have done my maths correctly 48 players entering across both events will give a pot of £1200 as it stands with entry fees.
£800 from Charity Shield entries
£400 from Pro am entries
£5 from each player to charity will give a sum of £240.
if we use that figure again for charity shield stage.
£240 pot for 14th August Clatterbridge Charity Shield.
£100 winner, £60 ru up
£ 30 semi finalists and £20 for hi break.
And a surprise gift for the winner.
£720 Pro-Am pot
£200 ru up
£75 semi finalist and £70 high break and hi break will include anything carried from Charity Shield.
